Tharshika Bala - 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The name we all agreed on and chose for our Production Company is Blue Velvet Production, which is associated with Silver Serpent Pictures. This type of bond is common in the media industry, when different platforms come together, also known as synergy. Other production companies similar to ours that might distribute our film might be Hammer Film Production (films like Woman in Black) and Lionsgate (films like American Psycho). However, these companies distribute films that fit other genres, not just for thrillers. If famous productions like Warner Brothers (films like Inception) or DreamWorks distributed our film, then the audience will be eager to watch the film without thinking twice because they know that this production produce great films and will not disappoint them therefore they would have a view that this film will be fantastic.

However, as we are a low budgeted film and aimed at young adults, we thought hard in relation to how it will be distributed. We have decided as our film’s trailer or some clips can be distributed on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites so that our audience can see our film is for them by writing reviews and say their opinion. Posters can also be another way of distribution to enlighten to our audience. By distributing to production companies that distribute thriller films, our audience will be able to identify this film.
