A production company follows the project from concept to completion, they are essentially the 'makers' of the film. For our film I thought Lionsgate Entertainment would be an appropriate choice of production company. This is because they are a company who often fund good quality films and have a lot of experience in the horror and thriller department, for example their now huge Saw franchise. Another reason for choosing them is that Lionsgate are fairly well known for giving directors creative freedom with their projects, this is something that is very important to me as if a studio limits you to what you can accomplish then it will not be your film or the dream you had for it so to speak. The funding for our film, which is a fairly mainstream thriller would most like come from Lionsgate Entertainment themselves. I believe they would fund it as the film is quite likely to make the money back, especially seeing as it would not cost a ridiculous amount to produce, relying on good actors to convey a mood rather than heavy special effects. Our film ends up being quite similar to other Lionsgate Entertainment released films such as American Psycho, and again Saw. They were both low budget projects similar to ours that Lionsgate Entertainment found a wide release for.
